Malton and Norton floods 2000
In November 2000 huge amounts of rainfall made the river Derwent burst its banks and flood large areas of Malton and Norton. The flooding were so severe that they made the national news; ITN news having a helicopter fly over the towns to show the extent of the damage. From the air the two towns were barely recognisable.
The damage was so extensive that it instigated the building of better flood defences which were completed in 2002. The cost of the flood ran into millions with houses and business suffering badly from the days of flooding.
All photographs were taken on a Nikon F4s with Fuji colour negative film.
